Travel is movement in space and time, encounters, loneliness, alienation; fleeting moments of illusion or sudden realisation.

Travel is a palimpsest. Each place holds within the experiences and impressions of those who were there before, as well as the prescience of those who will come thereafter. Every traveller brings his or her previous experiences, impressions, preconceptions, which are complemented, changed, forgotten when the journey is continued.

Travel is a melancholy pleasure.  After all, the word travel is practically identical with ‘travail’, meaning ‘hard work’.
